OUR MISSION

best beginnings’ mission is to provide exceptional quality education and services to promote and improve the physical and mental health and wellness of mothers, babies & the communities that support them.

best beginnings’ vision is to positively advance the maternal and pediatric quality of life in all communities we serve.

Meet Dr. Rachel Canterino

best beginnings was born out of a desire to serve the mother-child community. My goal is to provide the expectant/parent community with the same quality of information I took for granted as a physical therapist and pair that with the services that incorporate the personal connection to body-mind-breath I have found so valuable as a yoga teacher. It brings me great joy to empower mothers to give their babies the best beginnings they deserve.

I am a caring and passionate woman, which is reflected in all I do as a therapist, yoga practitioner-teacher and, most importantly, a mother of two amazing teenagers. I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and have been practicing physical therapy for over 20 years with a focus on pediatrics and an enthusiasm for women’s health.  I have had the privilege to be an adjunct professor in masters and doctoral level programs at a well-respected University. As a healthcare provider and educator, I value wellness, prevention and evidence-based practice. I have collaborated with many health care and educational teams and my desire to incorporate a transdisciplinary practice to pediatric therapy expands to include the same collaborative approach to best beginnings ever evolving series and workshops.

My yoga path began to intensify before I became pregnant with my first child in an effort to calm my body to prepare for her. My journey from student to teacher remains ever-evolving. I began teaching children’s yoga over 13 years ago and have since expanded to focus on adults with 800 hours of diverse yoga training. My background as a physical therapist influences my approach to the body, mind, and breath. I consider yoga an amazing tool for cultivating a balanced life to assist parents in better navigating the ever-changing world of raising healthy children.

I truly believe it takes a village, and I am honored to be a part of yours.
